Michael Hardner, MS, NCC, LPC, is a dedicated clinical therapist currently working at Harborcreek Youth Services. In his role, Michael provides evidence-based therapy for adolescent boys aged 13-18. He addresses a range of issues, including trauma, anger, emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, sexual problem behaviors, self-harming behaviors, and suicidal ideation. In addition, Michael utilizes the Good Life Model by addressing how basic (primary) needs can get met in more positive ways vs harmful ways. This work helps his clients achieve their goals by helping them learn effective coping strategies that promote a journey towards having a good life by addressing their past trauma and working towards healing and the process of recovery.

Michael is certified in anger management and dialectical behavior therapy through PESI and is trained in trauma-informed interventions through the Trauma Institute & Child Trauma Institute (Progressive Counting). He finds great fulfillment in helping his clients address their problem behaviors by teaching them more effective ways to manage their emotions.

Currently, Michael serves as a site supervisor at Harborcreek Youth Services, overseeing student interns completing coursework in their Practicums and Internships as part of the Mental Health Counseling Master’s Program at Gannon University.

By joining Thrive, Michael hopes to gain a sense of support and community that will help him become a better therapist and to learn from other practicing therapists at Thrive. Michael looks forward to expanding his professional network and continuing to provide valuable support to his clients.
